The best that anyone can do is to follow their dreams. And your dreams are yours. No reason to feel like you have disappointed - as you have become what YOU wanted to become - how many people can say that?

You may be more intelligent, more driven and much stronger than those who sit around not able to make a decision and a plan and follow through on it...

it also sucks when you have more than one daughter and you are the mommy then you have a house full of spastic, histrionic women craving chocolate grease and salt. (yay)

I don't think it's fair to judge someone based on something they have no control over, and not everyone who is overweight or even obese has that body type because they're lazy or eat too much. Thyroid problems and hormonal imbalances, for example, can cause weight gain and obesity.

My own mother is very overweight, and she eats well and goes to the gym for an hour-long water aerobics workout three times a week. I know it must be something else--she has poor health, systemic lupus topping the list and probably underlying most of her health problems--but I haven't asked, since it's something she clearly struggles with.

I love my mother and aspire to be as strong a woman as she is some day, and it's hurtful to me when people judge "fat people" based on body type alone on the misguided notion that somehow weight is a clear representation of a person's worth, and that people should be ashamed of themselves or hate themselves just because of their weight. I suppose it's just a sad fact that some people do make that judgment, and you are entitled to your opinion, but I hope you can come to appreciate my opinion as well.

Last semester I sat next to a guy I secretly nicknamed "Dan Dog-arettes" because he smelled like he slept in an ashtray with a big, stink-o dog (or ten). He was a really nice guy. I had 3 classes with him. He always apologized for his stink too, which was weird. He would say things like, "I have B.O. because I bike to class." But he didn't smell like B.O. Oh no. It was way, waaaay worse.
